Grand Velas Riviera Maya (Grand Velas)
Grand Velas Riviera Maya. An all-inclusive with two kids clubs for kids aged 4 to 12? It’s a dream come true! The Grand Velas Riviera Maya is a family resort par excellence. Kids can do everything from make piñatas, to flying kites, play volleyball, Wii tennis or bowling, or get out and about to explore the fresh water sinkholes dotted around the resort, or even plant a mangrove tree! Teens have their own 13-18 hangout with fun and games such as air hockey, billiards and Xbox. Better still the kids club is open until 22.45 so parents can treat themselves to dinner at the five diamond Cocina de Autor restaurant.
Hacienda Encantada (Hacienda Encantada)
Hacienda Encantada, Los Cabos. Not only is this beautiful cliff-top hacienda family owned and run, but it’s situated in one of the most exclusive spots in the world, in beautiful Los Cabos where millionaires and celebrities come to relax. In addition to fabulous Sea of Cortez views, the hacienda’s new residences are ideal for families with 3 to 4 bedrooms, private pools and even a bespoke kids’ pool. Perks while staying include three gourmet restaurants, two casual restaurants, 24-hour room service and a swim up bar, as well as a convenient shuttle into Cabo San Lucas. Activities arranged by the hotel range from biking trips to Mexican lessons, cooking classes, and all sorts of sports from yoga to volley tournaments and XBOX competitions.
Todos Santos Inn near Cabo San Lucas (Todos Santos Inn)
Todos Santos Inn. Once the home of a sugar baron, this mid-19th century historic village inn is packed with antiques and was recently listed as the #5 hotel of Conde Nast Traveler’s 2014 Readers’ Choice Awards’ “Best Hotels in Mexico.” About an hour north of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, it’s an off the beaten path location mixing beach and country, with a boho artistic side too. A ‘back to basics’ Mexican experience with a touch of chic! Families will enjoy the activities on offer: from surfing to eco adventures and especially releasing turtle hatchlings! The beaches around Todos Santos are active turtle nesting grounds so make sure you time your stay with the hatchling season.
Fairmont Mayakoba (Fairmont Mayakoba)
Fairmont Mayakoba. The 401 room award-winning oceanfront resort blends ocean and jungle beautifully, sitting pretty on a beautiful lagoon amidst the mangroves. At the Fairmont Mayakoba kids will love the Discovery Club & Adventure Camp (4-12) and its many activities including its enchanted Mayan forest, Mexican lottery and arts and crafts. For older kids, the Teens Room by PlayStation® should do the trick too. Parents in need of some rest and relaxation can hit the Willow Stream Spa or head to the resort’s very own Greg Norman designed 18-hole El Camaleón Course. There’s also plenty to do nearby, visiting the historical Mayan sites and ecological parks. And, it’s worth knowing under 5s eat free from the children’s menu!
