    Kentucky Hot Brown

Home to the legendary Kentucky Hot Brown, The Brown Hotel is a historic Louisville landmark and eatery. Erected in 1923, the hotel has withstood the Great Depression and the 1937 flood where the first floor was filled with water. The 16- story hotel encompasses an entire block and includes a restaurant where you can indulge in the delicious Hot Brown. My friends and I came here just for that. We each ordered a Kentucky Hot Brown: an open-faced sandwich served on toast with turkey breast, Mornay sauce, tomatoes and bacon. The meal arrived in a bubbling skillet, “browned” to perfection. Aside from “Mmmmm!” sounds, we all ate in silence.
