Fun Chicago Vacation – Adler Planetarium
Visiting the Adler Planetarium in Chicago is a great weekend trip. From the Swissotel, you can take a water taxi to the Adler Planetarium (kids love the water taxi). And after spending a long day at the Adler Planetarium, you can enjoy being at the Swissotel for dinner, rest, and relaxation.
Tips for Families
Plan on taking the water taxi to the planetarium and then taking a regular (and faster) taxi back to the hotel (depending on the ages of your kids, they may be too tired for the water taxi). Kids will love the indoor pool at the Swissotel…and if you time it right, you can watch the sun set from the pool on the 42nd floor.

Fantastic accommodations!
A beautiful and classy hotel but don’t let that fool you! It is EXTREMELY kid friendly! They will even prepare your room with kid linens/towels and supply games and books if you request their “kids package”. Our service was ALWAYS with a smile, no matter who we encountered.
Tips for Families
Request the “kids package” for your room!

Ginormous Kid-friendly Suite!
First of all, the kid’s suite is huge! This place was larger than some apartments that I’ve lived in! Our son had his own room (regular-sized double room) and it was all suited to make a kid’s stay more comfortable. Toys, games, bright colored towels in the bathroom, tub toys, cozy comforters on the bed. He was so excited when he saw the room, then we saw the rest of the suite! Amazing views, lots of space, three bathrooms in total. He loved the pool too, especially getting to wear a kid-sized bathrobe to the pool (too cute!) Free apples at the health club/pool was a nice touch too. Can’t wait to go back.
Tips for Families
Great location in downtown Chicago, close to Navy Pier. Plus, good public transportation that will take you anywhere else you’d like to go. Go for the museum experience package. They’ll give you tickets to the attraction of your choice at check-in. We saved ourselves a loooong wait at the Shedd Aquarium (line out the door and snaking through the front lawn area, a good 200-300 people we bypassed). Since we already had our tickets, we just went to the entrance inside, got our wristbands, and got right in. Also, if you feel like having a picnic or just eating in non-room service style, Fox & Obel grocery store is nearby. High-end groceries and ready to eat foods, a little on the expensive side, but cheaper than eating out. They also do picnic baskets, call ahead to have it ready and waiting to be picked up.
