    Fun, family-friendly indoor waterpark resort

This popular indoor waterpark resort is located in the foothills of the Adirondacks. The 200 suites at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge vary in size. At the lowest level, a standard suite is big enough for a family of six. At the top end, some 2-room suites can accommodate 12 people with four queen beds, a pull-out sofa, and bunk beds. Guests are given wristbands that permit unlimited access to the 38,000-square-foot White Water Bay indoor waterpark during their stay. The waterpark is open from 9am to 9pm every day. Our standard suite was very spacious and extremely comfortable for our family of five. It had an open layout similar to a studio apartment. At the far end of the room, there was a sleeping area with two queen beds, a small table and chairs, and a TV armoire. In the middle was a small living area with a pull-out sofa and a coffee table. Our room was much more attractive than what I had expected from a theme hotel, with a lot of nice, quality touches. Cribs are complimentary for guests’ use on a first come, first served basis. A small L-shaped kitchenette area was serviceable for light snacks and reheating leftovers.

    Tips for Families

Arrive as early as possible, as you are able to use the waterpark upon arrival, even if your room isn’t ready yet. On your departure day, you can use the waterpark for the whole day.

    Fun water park

Was there for 2 days, kids had a blast at the water park, but it was kinda small. Also, only a small area for 2s and under, but then how much cananies/toddlers do? Kids also liked the arcade. Didn’t try the rest if the kids’ program available, but they sounded like fun. Think the lodge could be better upkept. There was a funny smell in the ‘kitchen/breakfast’ area.

    Tips for Families

Not much in terms of food in the water park and on the higher end too, so head out, lots to eat out of the lodge area.

A Great Escape at Great Escape Lodge

My family had a good time at Great Escape Lodge. It has an indoor water park with lots of slides, a lazy river and a pool for kids. There is a giant dumping bucket as well which is a lot of fun. There is giant hot tub that is for adults 18 and older only. The only problem with the water park is that it is not heated. When the sun went down it got really cold in there. There is a kids club at the hotel, where younger kids can do arts & crafts, have a sundae party with characters and go for story time at night. While we were there, we also participated in a dance party in the lobby that was fun for the whole family. We got a regular room, but it was large enough to fit the four of us no problem. In the room there is a refrigerator, a microwave and a table, so you can eat some of your meals in your room. I would definitely recommend going to the hotel, but probably in the off-season as in the summer it is too expensive.

    Tips for Families

There is a shopping center close by the hotel where you can pick up groceries for your room. The hotel is across the street from Six Flags Great Escape; you can walk there and save on parking costs.
