Two fantastic weeks to visit my brother and his family all the way across the country!
Apparently in June, San Francisco is not noted for its warmth; they have even dubbed it “June Gloom” but we happened upon some sunny days nevertheless. The outdoor pool tended to be in a wind tunnel effect, and it was best to stay under water the entire time or get out and dry off really fast! San Francisco is a beautiful city, and the location for this hotel is great for families exploring the area. They have an adjacent IHOP restaurant by the front entrance, and a Johnny Rockets right by the rear exit, plus all of the fantastic offerings of the Wharf itself within easy walking distance! We found the public transportation (using a CityPass) to be great for our crew of four, and there were plenty of walking opportunities to enjoy. The Radisson website says they’ve just undergone extensive renovations, which can only be a good thing. Our then 6 year old said his favorite part of San Francisco was the hotel room!
Tips for Families
We had a refrigerator for the room and shopped a local supermarket to save money, making sandwiches and the like for our foursome. The CityPass was a great investment for us, with access to local attractions like the aquarium and museums, (oh yeah, we loved the California Academy of Sciences and the Exploratorium!!!) a visit to the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz via bay cruise, and who could pass on the opportunity to get a ride on a cable car?! Walking around Fisherman’s Wharf is a delight for all ages, and doesn’t have to be a great expense- we took plenty of photos as mementos rather than buying much. As a bonus, my brother and his family live in the area, so they told us of the highlights, which included a trip to the beach- albeit with stocking caps and coats, even in June!

Great Location, large hotel, small rooms
The best thing about this hotel is the location. You walk aou the back door and cross the street and you are at Fisherman’s Warf. The room was small and started to feel very cramped for a family of 5 after a few days but We would definatly stay here again when we go back to San Francisco. The view from our room was beautiful. We could see the Golden Gete Bridge, Alcatraz and the huge shipping boats passing through the bay. Parking is available on site but plan on spending an additional $30 a day for parking.
