Average hotel with average food but we still had fun and we love Aruba!!
Food and Drink included at this resort. Nice beach Nice pool. Lots of Activities in Aruba. We went snorkeling on Jolly Pirates ship, did a sunset cruise, did a jeep tour and went to the natural pool and the girls went horseback riding. We had a blat.

Make sure you do the jeep tour to the natural pool in Aruba. It was so much fun. Also the sunset cruise was so beautiful.

Wedding Family Trip
We were so excited to travel to Aruba for a relative’s destination wedding. We read reviews about how beautiful Palm Beach is and when we got there the reviews did the beach no justice. The warm breezes and gentle rolling waves made for heavenly walks and beachside relaxation. If we wanted to be poolside, the Occidental Grand’s setup was just as nice. The palm trees around the pool provided a beautiful atmosphere for all the fun activities that were offered. There were fun games and exercise sessions for all different ages. The restaurants offered several different cultural influences. I personally enjoyed the Caribbean one the most. And if that wasn’t your thing, than the buffet was always there with some American favourites. Overall the food was really good. The staff and the show entertainers made our stay absolutely unforgettable. They allowed a few of us to participate in the Greece show and it was hilarious. They were so friendly that when we left, it felt as though we were leaving family members behind. The rooms were very nice and kept clean. We didn’t spend much time in them so it really wasn’t a huge factor. Activities and shopping off the resort was good. We didn’t leave often but when we did it was convenient and inexpensive. I’ve vowed to return just so we can relive the wonderful experiences we had on the Happy Island.
Tips for Families
I would suggest doing an all inclusive. With all the drinks and food available it’s well worth it. If you plan on leaving the resort, preplan it and arrange the travel especially if you want to travel to the other side of the island. It will just save time instead of waiting for a bus. If you want a good seat by the pool or a palapa on the beach make sure to get down there early in the morning. Sometimes laying out your towels and some t-shirts are good enough to “reserve” your spot. But try different spots on the beach to be close to experience different extra-curricular a activities such as volleyball, kayak, or just to get closer to the bar on the beach.

Occidental Grand Aruba was an amazing resort. Lots of activities and dance shows. The food was great at the restaurants and the daily buffet as well. Kids have activites to get involved in each day.
