Beautiful and Serene!
Went to Portofino with family ages 2, 19, (2) 40+, (2) 50+ and a 70 year old. Everyone loved the beautiful resort, especially the pools. There were 3 of them, the large main pool being crowded and pumping with DJ’s spinning music but this area also included a gated-off splash playground for kids which the 2 yr. old loved! There was also a quiet pool behind our end of the resort where only 5 or 6 people would be there…nice! The various restaurants and cafes here where all exceptional, some pricey, but Sal’s was great for pizza and at a great price. Every evening at sundown, an opera duo would come out on the courtyard balcony and sing Italian Opera songs to the audience…very cool! The boat ride to the Universal Parks doesn’t take long and is a nice ride!
Tips for Families
Eat at Sal’s. See what refreshments they have in the lobby…fresh squeezed Orangeade? Take in the opera show. Take photos of the resort from the arched bridge.

Beautiful Resort, Great Staff
We checked and had a Bayview room booked. They had a balcony available, so we got it. So impressed by this newly renovated room. Simply gorgeous and a huge balcony overlooking the bay and resort. When our bags were delivered our bellman gave us a brief orientation to the property. Our room was located on the 3rd floor near the boat launch. This worked out perfectly for getting to the parks. Staying on property, you get front of the line priority. This is a benefit that is worth it’s weight. Service was great while on property, and the grounds transport you to another place. The only complaint was my husband’s omelet was undercooked and sloppy at breakfast. But the waiter took it off the bill and added a discount. Again, well done!! Thanks for a great time.
Tips for Families
There are not many balconies on property. Be sure to ask if they have one available at check in. They will not confirm or reserve before check in.
